24 April 2017 - DAABON Group becomes the first in the world to become certified under RSPO NEXT, a voluntary add-on module engaging Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) member companies to exceed the RSPO’s internationally recognised sustainability standard. RSPO NEXT was developed in response to the increased market commitments for no deforestation, no development on peat, no fires, and no human rights violations.

We are especially proud to be the first group globally, together with our 122 small farmers, to show that RSPO NEXT Certification is challenging, but doable, also for smallholders.”

For the second time consecutively, Daabon Group has been ranked number one as an important palm oil producer with a high score of 98.3 per cent on SPOTT：Sustainable Palm Oil Transparency, in terms of disclosure of operations and engagement with the best social and environmental practice, published by ZSL：Zoological Society of London on October 2016. We have won the first place last year in 2015 with a score of 92.85%, and we are proud to win the first place again with an even higher score.
We intend to keep making improvements, with and to keep doing things right in order to maintain our status as the most socially responsible and transparent producer.

Daabon Group has achieved the first-ever Fair Trade USA certification of a palm oil product for Hain Celestial’s Spectrum Organic All-Vegetable Shortening. The shortening produced by rural, small scale farmers in Santa Marta, Colombia and is 100% organic and produced sustainably.
This is a great achievement being the first-ever palm oil product to be Fair Trade USA certified in the World.

WWF Japan and RSPO will be hosting RSPO Japan Day event in Japan on the coming 27th of September 2016. We Daabon Organic, as RSPO member and sustainable palm oil producer, will be sponsoring and participating as one of the main speakers at this first-ever official RSPO event to be held in Japan.
RSPO refers to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), which is an organization that was established to promote the growth and use of certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO). In doing so, it aims to make sustainable palm oil the norm globally.

Daabon has introduced our 100% Colombian organic Ecocert Fair Trade (EFT) certified bananas in Japan. Consumers seem to be interested in learning about the Ecocert Fair Trade standards and how does the price premium really benefit the growers and their local communities. Currently, our product is found at U-COOP stores. Soon, other Cooperatives will start carrying our product too, as Coop Members seem to be the most educated about these global Fair Trade standards. Daabon Group is pleased to announce that our organic bananas are now certified Ecocert Fair Trade (EFT). Previously, they were certified by FLO. From here on, ECOCERT is the single certifying body for our Organic and Fair Trade standards. The banana with the new EFT label will be available from March 2009 in Japan.

C.I.Tequendama / Daabon Group was inspected and rated as Excellent under the AIB Consolidated Standards for Food Safety Standards last October. Our palm oil facilities were praised for their strict implementation of safety and sanitary management programs at the refineries and processing plants.
Daabon Group is pleased to be the first importer in Japan to announce the carbon footprint of our Colombian organic bananas. We are committed to doing our share in solving the Global Warming problem by implementing an effective strategy to reduce our CO² emissions at our farms and in cooperation with our distribution partners.
In this first case, we’ve selected a specific product, and we’ve obtained a full product Carbon Footprint of a 600g-packed organic banana equal to 383g of CO² emissions.
In Japan, the Government - METI is working on the development of a Carbon Footprint standard for in conjunction with the Corporations and Universities. The above mentioned result was calculated by AEON based on the Government’s METI tentatively announced criteria.
Daabon Group will continue to monitor the Government’s METI standards to update our CFP calculations, together with continuous measures at our plantations and distribution channels, and offer our customers a third party verified CO² emissions figure in the coming months.

Our customers may now choose from a combination of these three certifications when buying our bananas. Daabon is a safety, health, environment and social conscious supplier giving our Customers the possibility to appeal to consumers different benefits of our product by using third party transparent certifying bodies. During the months of June through August 2008, we have concluded several inspections that we consider important to announce to our Customers. The first one was conducted by the Audit team of AEON supermarkets of Japan. They inspected our banana plantations in compliance with the TopValu Green Eye and AEON Code of Conduct standards. The inspection was successfully completed and the recommendations incorporated to our program.
The second inspection was conducted by the Rainforest Alliance team, also to our banana plantations. According to the preliminary report issued by the inspectors, our plantations are recommended for Rainforest Alliance certification. This implies that we’ll be able to offer our customers a combination of Organic, Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance certified bananas in the coming months.
The final inspection carried out by Control Union was at our Palm plantations and facilities, in compliance with the RSPO P&C’s. We are now waiting for the certificate to be issued by Control Union in order to be the first Company world wide to offer Certified Sustainable Palm Oil to the market. Several food and cosmetics manufacturers in the United States, Europe, Japan and Australia have been increasing the demanded volumes of Sustainable palm oil and derived products such as organic glycerin, among others.
